Neonatal work is where this neonatal anaesthesia machine earns its description. Delivering 10 ml accurately is a different engineering problem from delivering 500, because volume lost to circuit expansion can exceed the volume reaching the patient unless the machine compensates. A 10 ml floor says the ventilator is built for that work, and it places this above every other Blackstone machine for any department anaesthetising newborns. What it does not say is how accurately it delivers at that volume, and that is the figure a neonatal service should ask for before anything else.
The auxiliary air supply deserves its own note. Oxygen is the default auxiliary gas on most machines. A recovering patient who does not need supplemental oxygen is better served by air, particularly where raising the inspired concentration would be unwelcome. Having both gases available at the machine itself removes a small but real compromise, and it takes up no further bench space to provide.
This sheet also resolves something the Nouveau sheet left open. Capnography, agent gas, oximetry, and depth of anaesthesia are all listed here as options, with each gas module available as a Chinese unit or a Masimo one. Since the Nouveau version listed no monitoring whatsoever, the likeliest reading is that the same modules serve both machines and that the Nouveau sheet is incomplete.
